Hi,  I want to thank Patricia LTD for their outstanding customer service and excellent accommodations in Riga Latvia!  

In September 2006 I traveled to Latvia (for the first time) with my parents. My father is originally from Latvia but he had not been back in 65 years. We  booked 10 nights accommodations  in Riga through Patricia LTD. Our room was centrally located in the historic and beautiful “old town” within walking distance to all the major sights. There was even a grocery store close by. The room was very clean and spacious with King sized beds, satellite TV, washer/dryer and a full kitchen. The food basket upon arrival was very appreciated after a long day of travel!  

We were a little apprehensive about traveling to a former Soviet block country for the first time but Patricia LTD and especially Kristine and Dace went out of their way to answer all of our questions and ease any concerns we had! We have never experienced such excellent customer service from a travel agency before! They even helped us find the farm were my father grew up!  

I would highly recommend Patricia LTD for all of your travel and tourism needs while in Latvia and the Baltic’s. This company can do it all: groups, tours, accommodations, car rental and translation!

A special thanks to Kristine who dedicated many personal hours to make sure our trip was enjoyable. Your English is excellent and we really appreciated your personal touch and insights regarding your country and its politics.

Mike, I received the video on Latvia, three days ago from the Latvian Tourism (donated by Patricia Tourist Office) . Thanks for getting it for me. I showed this video at the Latvian Lutheran Church here in Indianapolis. Most of the congregation consist of elderly Latvian's who range between 60 to 93 years of age. They enjoyed watching this video, and I believe I have seen some tears in their eyes from some of them. Most of them probably will never come to Latvia, again , due to their illness, age and finances. But they loved to reminiscence the good old memories which they had of their home land, which this video generated. Some times, we have , some one bringing some slides...but never a live video. Though it was in English, all of them understood it.

It would be nice if you have a chance to get some episodes of Latvian culture, plays, concerts , Latvian children at play, and etc.... in Latvian Language, that would be nice. As our Pastor Guhnars, has stated to me, that many of our seniors , are not going to be around to long . This small community of 30 to 50 members are proud of Latvia, and continuously are in involved in charitable contribution to assist humanitarian projects in Latvia.

I wanted to write and express my deep appreciation for your assistance in scheduling a tour with Dace (hope I have her first name spelled correctly) on Saturday while I was visiting Latvia……..and to tell you what an excellent, excellent day it was for me to see Old Riga and areas in the country.

I've visited many countries and engaged various tour groups and in my opinion you run a first class organization with a great website.

Some of the Ministry personnel wanted to meet for a late breakfast/lunch so it was not possible for you and me to meet on Sunday. In my capacity as Honorary Consul, I'll be making more trips to Riga and I will certainly request assistance from your company in making hotel and other arrangements during future visits.

My tour guide (Dace) did an excellent job in properly and professionally representing your company and her country during the day as we visited different places. She was well organized and we moved at the "perfect speed" during the day. She provided me with the opportunity to stop, look, ask questions and learn much about the city, the country, and the people of Latvia because of her excellence as a guide. She did a "first class" job of orienting me to the region!

Some people are hungry for historical details about building/roads/palaces and I was searching for a top level discussion about the city, where people live, eat, work, attend school, and other details of interest. I was very satisfied with what I had hoped to learn during my tour and I'd recommend your services to anyone planning to visit Riga.

Next time I am in Riga, perhaps we can meet up for lunch.

You gave me the service I dream of and everything I would expect, but as you know that is not always the case.

To be greeted at the airport and hotel by your representatives was perfect (especially as they were beautiful also)

The hotel (Domina Inn) was outstanding and the staff could not be more helpful. The only very slight downside of this is location, where although not far, a little nearer the old town would have been better. Although I would still give top marks.

Riga itself is a beautiful City and everyone enjoyed the trip.

We got to the airport in plenty of time, so the perfect ending.

I know I could look on the internet, but which other countries do you organise hotels etc for??

Dear all at Patricia Ltd,  We recently stayed at the Metropole Hotel in Riga which we booked through you.

The staff at check-in were pleasant and dealt with us very quickly.  The hotel was spotless in all public areas and in the rooms.

The breakfast consisted of an excellent choice and was served in a very relaxed atmosphere.

The rooms were a great size, plenty of space, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable, especially the bed.

The only 'drawback' would be the sound from the trams late into the night and early in the morning although with the windows closed it is bearable.

General manager's comment: For some clients, the tram noise adds a dimension of charm. If noise is a concern, ask for a court yard room when you make your reservation.

I would like to say a very big thank you for recommending such a wonderful hotel and for your extremely professional and helpful service at all times.

We really enjoyed our stay in Riga and would recommend anybody visiting the city to make a booking with your office.

We want to thank the team at Patricia Ltd. in Riga for organizing a perfect vacation in Riga August 17, - 21, 2005.  Our apartment at Jana seta was just perfect, clean, safe, nicely furnished.

The taxi transportation to and from the apartment was professionally organized. we were surprised that a dispatcher with our name on a sign was welcoming us at Riga airport upon arrival. This taxi voucher should be recommended to all travelers unfamiliar with the city and the language. It helps to avoid unnecessary hassle and disagreements and is definitely worth every lat.

We were surprised at the prompt answers to all our email enquiries addressed to the friendly Patricia staff.

We came across your website by chance while looking for a short-term apartment rental in Riga. we had the feeling your company is the right partner for our booking arrangements. The confidence we put into Patricia Ltd. was never disappointed.

Dear Matti, I wanted to write and thank you and Kristina anyway for your efficiency in organizing my stay. I was impressed by your organization and by the feeling that you are a young team.

I am interested to see that you are doing a Master's in Tourism. I think there could be more room on your form for "free" answers, as I find there are several things I want to say about tourism in Latvia and no space to do so. I will note them down here:

l. I find that there is a big divide between the types of tourism on offer in Riga especially. The quiet tourist who wants to visit museums, monuments and bookshops, have a drink in a café and a meal out in a restaurant in the evening and a round it all off with a good night's sleep feels very much in a minority in July and August. The level of noise (mainly street music and bars open until 2 or 3am ) is literally appalling. One feels that the local authorities have no interest in enforcing reasonable public noise standards because of the importance of the bar and restaurant trade. The whole attitude is one of encouraging alcohol consumption and bad behavior. I went to "school" early in the morning and I felt ashamed to see the how elderly ladies were sweeping up the debris left by the previous night's revelers. What do the people of Riga think of it all?

2. Nobody who spends more than two days in the beautiful city of Riga can ignore the language problem and the social divide. I feel that some acceptable version of this needs to be presented to tourists (some of the guidebooks try) in order for tourists to feel at ease. No one likes to learn that the money they have just spent on one night's stay in a hotel equals a postman's wages for a month.
 

3. I think the service you offer is outstanding.

Greetings Mike,  of course you can't remember me but we talked on the phone couple of times
at the end of May. We spent four nights in hotel  Forums. (editor's note read more below)

I would like to give big Thank You to Patricia personnel for hotel and  taxi arrangements in Riga in a bit short notice.

In Forums everything went fine besides the breakfast service which was absolutely the worst I have seen. And, believe me I have business traveled a lot.

Of course the breakfast staff tried but everything was so poorly organized beforehand that breakfast took easily an hour (and there was only about 9 tables). Young girl tip-toed with high heels as soon she can but often misunderstood or forgot the order and it took 15-20 minutes even  to get orange juice in the table. We took this breakfast 'event' still as a hilarious amusement but some guests didn't.

What finally got as angry was on the departure day on the reception when staff almost called us thieves when we didn't want to pay used peanut bag. There wasn't actually any peanuts in the room initially. Finally they accused that our son has maybe eaten those. He's heavily allergic to peanuts ! Naturally, my wife noticed this even in the first day but I didn't inform that to reception -after all it was only a peanut bag !

Never in hotels have I seen such a behavior from hotel reception.

Regarding this I can't recommend hotel Forums to anyone. I'm considering to put this also to internet in Riga sites. Feel free to forward this to hotel management if you like.

But still, again Thank You Patricia for nice work !  Riga was really nice by the way !

We enjoyed our stay in Riga very much. Hotel Viesturs was nice and clean. We especially appreciated that there was a bathtub. The service was very good, and so was the breakfast. I give the hotel the highest rates.
Since we arrived by ferry (Riga Sea Line) from Sweden we had to suffer the procedures of the customs -- and all passengers had to wait outside for at least half an our, we were lucky it didn't rain -- but when we were in Riga Old Town we had a very good time. Thank you for your concern.

We would like to thank you all very much indeed for making our first visit to Latvia so special. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Riga and also the few short trips out to places like Majori and Sigulda. Now we are back into the routine and still trying to shed the few extra pounds from all the Latvian pastries and hot chocolate!! We hope we shall have the chance to return to Latvia one day. In the meantime, we would certainly recommend one of your apartments to any of our friends thinking of heading that way.

(Editors note - there is no restaurant in the Riga airport departure lounge - eat at LIDO restaurant above ticket counter before going through immigration)

By the way, when we arrived at the airport for our flight back to England, we made the mistake of going through security before having something to eat. We assumed that there would be a restaurant on the other side of the security check. When we realised that there was only a coffee bar, we managed to persuade the staff to allow us back into the departure area (they were very reluctant to do this, however), and we bought a meal in the LIDO restaurant. It might be a good idea for you to let your clients know about this situation before they leave Riga to fly home.

Editors's note, if you are planning a trip to find lost relatives, the staff at the various museums are most helpful.

Just a quick note to say "Thank You" for making our trip special. We were extremely fortunate on our last day in Riga, and made some good contacts with a tutor from Dad's High School - who said she would access the school records for us and email me and confirm whether he was there or not. Also,
we met with a museum curator who has very strong links with the Latvian Red Cross and she said she was sure she could get some details of  his mother for us. Also, a guy in the Krisjana Barona museum promised he'd find out the story behind the missing apartment 12! We also met some people who were just extremely kind and friendly and we brought very warm feelings back to Wales with us. I also was able to find the office of the people who manage Dad's old apartment in Brivibas iela, and they've given me an address of a property office who might be able to give us some information. I have another task to do and that is to try to find where Dad's summer house was It was one of those appropriated by the soviets, and it would be nice to see if it is still standing. I like the idea of maybe getting someone to dig around the archives before we come back again, so do keep in touch. Kindest regards

I can't think of any way you could have made our experience more enjoyable... I'm not sure how much of your clientel are looking for their Latvian roots, but perhaps you could add that to your list of tours. Just an idea.

Oh, the rental car was terrific. Having them deliver it and pick it up was such a big help in an unfamiliar city. And it was a really good car. We did not have such luck in Germany! I was stuck on the Autobahn driving the car equivalent of an avacado!

My father, sister and I have the fondest memories of our stay in Riga. You made it easy to love the place!

Hello Mike! First I have to say thanks to you and your wife for all organizing everything. The last few days in Riga have been faultless. The apartment was great and in a prime spot, everything I had asked for, you organized and I'm  even feeling a little fitter after all those stairs!

The tax refund was easy. There is a desk, small but clearly marked, on the left after you get through passport control, on the way to the departure  gate. They refund the amount shown, but convert it to Euro.

May be in after your services again soon, as I'm thinking of returning next  month! (To what has now become my favorite city).

Hello Mike Johnson, Sorry we never got back to see you but our time in Riga was so short and there was so much to see! The hotel you chose for us was very acceptable and the price was also good. I loved the pancake places! We all could have breakfast and tea, etc for just over 2Lats!!The old part of town is great and those hanger markets were fantastic!!!! You should also mention just how stunning the Latvian women are also! I guess that fact alone should be an easy sell to single guys! No problems at all getting my money from the ATM machines as well. I usually have a hard time getting our clients to vary their destinations to something a little more exotic than Cuba or Florida but Riga and yourselves will be a self-sell. Dear Mike and staff

just a brief note to thank you for a pleasant stay in Riga. The accommodation was very comfortable and with the exception of one incident with the key (yes we realize we did not turn it four times) it was a very positive experience.

We had a funny experience when we returned home (Moldova). Our landlady had just installed a new lock just like the one in Riga. We are sure to be well practiced with this devise by the time we return.

All the staff were very helpful and the young woman that came to the apartment to collect the keys (twice) deserves a special mention for being very warm and friendly.

One small suggestion .When you collect people from the airport it would be nice to engage with them on the way to their accommodation. For example telling people where they are going and pointing out key land marks. This is a small suggestion only and is really just an idea for making  people feel even more welcome.
